Materials: copper raku, smalti, porcelain, gold, assorted glass with cheesecloth on hand-formed substrate
Inspiration comes from the chaos and tension of the world in which we live, contrasted with peace and stillness... The irregular shape offers a more organic sense to the piece as does combining a variety of materials to tell a visual story. The three-dimensional wall-hung sculpture includes copper glazed raku fragments, exploding in the ‘darkness’ on the left portion of the piece. The ‘light’ peels back with more ordered glass, smalti, gold and other bits flowing into calm, softened by the fragile fabric edge.
