Children's Hospital Colorado



Colorado Mosaic Artists' current exhibition is now on display. For the health and safety of hospital patients and staff the exhibit is not open for drop-in guests. However, you can view the mosaics with this You Tube video as there was a small opening reception for artists in late March.

Kathy is pleased to have three mosaics included in the exhibit, and more details may be found with all of the exhibiting artists online by clicking the graphic image. Enjoy!

Silverthorne Performing Arts Center



Kathy Thaden is the solo featured artist June through September 2023 at the Silverthorne Performing Arts Center, Silverthorne, CO. The mosaics at the Theatre SilCo include a number of pieces embracing a variety of themes. The collection of works on display June and July will be rotated out for a new grouping August and September to wrap up the summer. Be sure to check out the mosaic sculptures in the exterior windows facing Blue River Parkway too.

"Healing from the Ashes"

Boulder County, Colorado


On December 30, 2021 the Marshall Fire (northwest of Denver, CO) destroyed nearly 1,100 homes as a “hurricane of fire” spread the flames with little or no warning. Kathy took the idea of a pro bono mosaic project to the Colorado Mosaic Artists (CMA) board, suggesting “Healing from the Ashes.”

"Water, Water Everywhere"

This summer exhibit featuring works by Colorado Mosaic Artists members also includes some other events free and open to the public:

Make ’N Take – 1:00pm Saturday, July 10: Spend an hour in creating a one-of-a-kind mosaic created from found objects. Participants will select the type of mosaic they would like to make from a pin, tin box, or pendant and then decorate with found objects such as keys, bottle caps, beads, and other fun things. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Mosaic Presentation – 1:00pm Saturday, July 24: Enjoy a look at mosaics history around the western world and see this ancient art form’s new, contemporary interpretations. The lecture is free and open to everyone, including artists of various levels and mediums.

UPDATE: Very happy to report that over $26,000 was raised for the volunteer fire departments in Northern Colorado!

Last fall's Colorado wildfires were too close to home as my mom had to evacuate and stay with us for ten days. Thankfully, the fires were contained just a few miles from her home. Others were not so fortunate. She and I are both pleased to donate our art to the 2021 online auction, benefiting volunteer fire departments.

"Mosaic Arts International"

I am very pleased and honored to have my "Calm over Chaos" juried into the prestigious Annual Mosaic Arts International exhibition (MAI). The exhibit invigorates a new perspective of mosaic art in numerous contexts and celebrates established as well as emerging artists working in the medium today.

The 44 selected Fine Arts works and the 10 Architectural Works reflect the multiplicity of the mosaic medium and its endless applications.

As a result of the COVID-10 pandemic, SAMA cancelled the 2020 exhibition and is presenting the 2021 exhibition as a virtual experience scheduled to debut Wednesday, February 10, 2021.
